What children learn in drama

Every YAM drama class starts with warm-ups for the voice and body, then moves into games, improvisation and short scenes. Over a term, children learn to project their voice, speak clearly in front of a group, listen to others and react in the moment. Older groups work on scripts, character choices and staging, while younger children learn through stories, songs and imaginative play.

Drama is one of the best ways to build confidence in shy children and to give energetic children a positive outlet. Parents often notice the difference first at school: clearer presentations, more willingness to put a hand up, and better teamwork with classmates.

How a term works

Classes run weekly across the school term in small, age-grouped classes, so every child gets time on stage and individual feedback from the teacher. Each term builds towards a showcase where families come to watch what the children have created together. Children can join at the start of any term, and new students are welcome to try a class first.

Drama and musical theatre at YAM

Our drama programme sits alongside musical theatre, dance and holiday camps, so children who love performing can try singing and movement too. YAM is approved by Qatar's Ministry of Culture and teaches children in English, with Arabic-speaking families warmly welcome.
